Men Will Be Men

Men are growing into their britches these days – trading t-shirts and sneakers for tailored shorts and snappy tops.  A little more sophisticated, a little more dashing.  Another look I’ve been sighting is rolled up trousers with some overstated socks and chukkas, which I predict will become more popular in the fall.

Personally, I think a well fitted shirt is rather becoming – I am ready to do away with the graphic tees or low-V shirt.  Boyish charm is one thing, but man who looks his age is sartorially on point.  As much as I love seeing men wear daring things, Toronto is often understated when it comes to style.  However, a button-down paired with some raw denim – rolled up – and slip-on loafers is still a great laid back look that guys here seem to be adapting.

This shift in style is apparent in the change of retail options in Toronto.  More shops, catering to fashion forward men exclusively, have opened up.  There is even a cluster of high-end menswear boutiques in the Queen Street shopping district and the vintage menswear pop-up shop I host quarterly is gaining popularity rapidly.  Good for the boys, er, men – keep filling those boots!
